Frankenstein

Art Direction: Stephanie Knopp

I was given the opportunity to create a book cover for an iconic book. I just so happened to choose one of the most iconic and influential books of all time. The concept behind this cover was to reference stitching but the challenge was to do it in a way that wasn’t gory. The idea ended up blossoming into a cobbled together typeface made up other typefaces (Benguiat, Apple Chancery, etc.) and a mixture of uppercase and lowercase characters; being that Frankentstein’s creation is a cobbled together man from parts he could salvage. The burlap texture helped bring the concept together and aided in not having to use gore to convey stitching.
